NHAI i.e National Highways Authority of India has made Fastag compulsory and Fastag has already proven beneficial for both vehicle owners as well the Government. Fastag is an electronic toll collection system. With this device, you can travel through tolls without stopping.
When using Fastag, the first thing the vehicle owners should do is to paste it on the windshield of the vehicle. The Fastag emerges Radio Frequency signals which are detected by the sensors at the toll plazas. This Radio Frequency signal activates the toll bar which is opened automatically after the money is deducted from the Fastag wallet. The toll fees are charged directly from your Fastag card. So by using Fastag you do not have to stop when crossing a toll which saves your time without waiting in queues at the toll plazas.
When you install a Fastag device on your vehicle and place it on your windshield, you will immediately start getting the benefits associated with the device every time you cross a toll plaza on a highway.
Since Fastag is mandatory after 15 Feb 2021, so Fastag has been installed on almost 90% of four-wheeler vehicles. Those vehicle owners who have not installed Fastag yet must get it as soon as possible because without it they will have to pay the extra charge for the toll payment.
For making every vehicle enabled with Fastag, the NHAI has started the sale of Fastag 24 hours. So vehicle owners can get a Fastag from Banks, Fastag counters at the toll plazas, or from mobile payment apps like Amazon pay.
